I think documentary filmmaking is a braver way to make films because it's real, and you're really there.
I'd like to help repair the earth's ecosystems, and to fully live until I'm fully dead.
Emotional discomfort, when accepted, rises, crests and falls in a series of waves. Each wave washes a part of us away and deposits treasures we never imagined. Out goes naivete, in comes wisdom; out goes anger, in comes discernment; out goes despair, in comes kindness. No one would call it easy, but the rhythm of emotional pain that we learn to tolerate is natural, constructive and expansive. . . The pain leaves you healthier than it found you.
Fear is the raw material from which courage is manufactured. Without it, we wouldn't even know what it means to be brave.
If you'd rather live surrounded by pristine objects than by the traces of happy memories, stay focused on tangible things. Otherwise, stop fixating on stuff you can touch and start caring about stuff that touches you.
To live a life that is wrong for you is a form of dying. There are people who have lives that look perfect. They try to be happy, they believe they should be happy, they are trying to like it, but if it's off course from their north star, they aren't satisfied.
If a problem looks difficult, relax. If it looks impossible, relax even more. Then begin encouraging small changes, putting just enough pressure on yourself to move one turtle step forward. Then rest, savor, celebrate. Then step again. You’ll find that slow is fast, gentle is powerful, and stillness moves mountains.
I do not claim to have perfected an art but to have commenced one, the limits of which it is not possible at present exactly to ascertain.
All I want to do, if you've already got health care, is lower your costs.
I would advise you to get all of your blessings written and preserve them. . . I do feel to enjoin it upon you to make a record of every official act of your life. If you baptize, confirm, ordain, or bless any person or administer to the sick, write an account of it. If every man will do this, the Church can write a correct account of it. . . if the power and blessings of God are made manifest in your preservation from danger. . . you should make a record of it. Keep an account of the dealings of God with you daily. I have written all the blessings I have received, and I would not take gold for them.
If there's a perfect family out there, we're all happy for that family. But most families aren't perfect. Most families are living with some sort of challenge or some sort of difficulty.
