Punk rock, when I was a part of it, was called 'the underground. ' There was something very attractive in all the hidden places, the hidden histories.
I work hard, but in spurts.
If you don't have time, the truth is, you don't have priorities. Think harder; don't work harder.
What we fear doing most is usually what we most need to do.
It isn't enough to think outside the box. Thinking is passive. Get used to acting outside the box.
But you are the average of the five people you associate with most, so do not underestimate the effects of your pessimistic, unambitious, or disorganized friends. If someone isn't making you stronger, they're making you weaker.
Are you better off than you were one year ago, one month ago, or one week ago? If not, things will not improve by themselves.
This is about all the bad days in the world. I used to have some little bad days, and I kept them in a little box. And one day, I threw them out into the yard. They're one of the highlights of this job for me, because I go out and do these conventions all across the world and meet all of these young girls - girls that look like me, and girls that look nothing like me, that are excited and empowered to see a woman of color on television. I'm really grateful for the fans that I have.
We’re taught to do things the right way. But if you want to discover something that other people haven’t, you need to do things the wrong way.
