I believe locations should try to be and evoke the characters in a movie.
It's just that the nature of being a director is being incredibly overwhelmed with getting the shots right, dealing with the locations, and then there's a two-year-old in the scene, and all that stuff - you know, there's a lot of kids in scenes.
The biggest mistake I made was not having a full-time producer. I was securing locations and wardrobe and making sure people get called to show up on time and getting the film to the lab and getting the camera, and all this stuff that I'm happy to do, but if I'm doing every little thing, I'm not concentrating on my story. So it never gets any better than the script.
The skin is no more separated from the brain than the surface of a lake is separate from its depths; the two are different locations in a continuous medium. . . The brain is a single functional unit, from cortex to fingertips to toes. To touch the surface is to stir the depths.
Downey Savings & Loan receives high ratings from its customers in California in areas related to personal service and for being customer focused. Multiple convenient locations and extended operating hours in supermarkets positively increase customer perceptions of convenience for Downey.
Rocks are like wreck magnets and ships run aground today in pretty much the same locations and for the same reasons they did thousands of years ago.
It felt really radically uncomfortable. And I was really not sure at first about releasing that body of work. But then the more I thought about it, the more I thought that that position, that location, is something that's just sort of interesting in its own right, as an experience, as a process. Again, we're talking about this rubric, this set of rules, this grid that I toss on top of different locations globally. This is what came out of Africa.
The way I work with my cinematographer is not based on general principles, but the ideas are triggered by the locations where we shoot.
A lot of a movie is locations, frankly.
Progression and achievement belong to those who have learned to use the opportunity of now. Our strides of today will determine our locations tomorrow.
I hate everything about traveling but I love to explore new locations so I wish I could snap and arrive somewhere whenever the need or impulse would arise.
You need as much ballast as possible to stop you from floating away; you need people around you, things going on, otherwise life is like some film where the money ran out, and there are no sets, or locations, or supporting actors, and it's just one bloke on his own staring into the camera with nothing to do and nobody to speak to, and who'd believe in this character then?
The Internet has no such organization - files are made available at random locations. To search through this chaos, we need smart tools, programs that find resources for us.
Every time I make a movie I have too many characters and too many locations.
I always spend time exploring the customs and attitudes of the countries I'm using for locations, and interviewing the people who live there. I've visited over 90 countries thus far.
Start with scout locations first.
No, my favorite scene was Brienne finding Arya and The Hound. I thought that the writing and the dialogue and the confusion that spirals into the fight was such a cool scene. I knew I was gonna film it in Iceland and I did a lot of - I really scouted and climbed around Iceland to find those locations and I just couldn't wait to do that.
To create something to dream about, I need exceptional women, locations and architectures.
People have souls, and we all accept that cities have souls, too. It's why the locations are so important.
Getting to travel around the world and go to glamorous locations is certainly not what I had as a kid.
