If you're all loaded up on love, you haven't got anywhere else to go.
For some reason, I like to put myself in situations where I don't even know how I ended up there. I never want to be complacent or comfortable in a role.
I love being a redhead. It's a rare thing, so I think there's a bond between redheads.
When I finally started to heal, that was the inspiration.
So, I went to Germany and ended up parasailing around this castle. I was in Germany sightseeing, eating Bratwurst and hanging out in beer gardens. And then, I got back from Germany and got a call where they were like, "We need to fly you to New York tomorrow to read with Taylor [Schilling]. " I was like, "Wait, for Alex, the manipulative drug-smuggling lesbian girl?!," and they were like, "Yeah. "
There is a much bigger picture we are all striving for. To sweat the small stuff just stresses you out for no reason.
And my mouth is not a sewer, although some people may think it is.
Perfectionism doesn't make you feel perfect. It makes you feel inadequate.
I mean, in many ways, you know, I felt very connected to Ian (Dury) on, on a lot of levels. I mean, politically, & sort of, socially, our, kind of, social backgrounds are quite similar in many ways, as well as our kind of artistic endeavors. So there were many, many things that sort of chimed in for me, and kind of made me feel very instinctive about playing him, and, and although, there was sort of a certain amount of impression involved, actually, there's a lot of myself in the role.
True friends are two people who are comfortable sharing silence together.
I'm on my boat, training, rehearsing; I spend all my energy on the job that's coming up, and I found that's the way that works for me. The more energy you have on set, the better you'll be; it's all about being alive in that moment and listening.
