I love everything about the holidays: the decorations, the parties, and spending time with friends and family. What I love most is that feeling of giving back. Every bit counts.
The film [Sightseers] is really the story of the journey of a relationship, so the killings are almost a metaphor for the trials they go through. We wanted people to identify with the experience of going on holiday and having a quarrel with your wife, boyfriend, whatever. We knew if we didn't crack that it would not be watchable as a film.
Term, holidays, term, holidays, till we leave school, and then work, work, work till we die.
Now, Jews integrate but they don't destroy their institutions. They don't close the synagogue. They don't stop having special Jewish graveyards. They don't stop having special Jewish holidays. Why can't we understand that we can have things special to us and still comingle and integrate with others.
My favorite holiday is my birthday-it's very Leo.
You see. . . it's really quite strenuous doing nothing all day, so once a week we take a holiday and go nowhere, which was just where we were going when you came along. Would you care to join us?
Do not fear to put novels into the hands of young people as an occasional holiday experiment, but above all, good poetry in all kinds,--epic, tragedy, lyric. If we can touch the imagination, we serve them; they will never forget it.

Life is a breathing-space between two eternities, a holiday with appalling realities behind and before.
Why has there never been a holiday where peace is celebrated all throughout the world?
I think I copied my style from Louis Armstrong. Because I used to like the big volume and the big sound that Bessie Smith got when she sang. . . So anyway between the two of them I sorta got Billie Holiday.
For me, I think everybody with half a heart tries to do their best to do their part of good during the holiday season.
I've made my own music, and the way I've always described it is Peggy Lee with an electric guitar, or Billie Holiday with some PJ Harvey in there.

I'm one of these people that if I have a nice holiday - like I have had in Turkey repeatedly - I go back a lot.
My first holiday to San Francisco in 1998-99 was supposed to be a two-week vacation but I ended up staying five weeks and nearly didn't come home.
I think holidays create so much pressure because people feel they should be having a good time. But you shouldn't.
