I feel that beauty and femininity are ageless
Quite honestly, even as a woman dealer, I really wasn't interested in masculinity or femininity as such. What was important to me was the value of the work itself. If a woman had come along, somebody like Lee Bontecou or Louise Nevelson, and said, "I'm working on the land," I would have gone to see it.
I think that just because I'm trans, and I feel like I have to prove to people that I'm a woman sometimes, I'm never going to sacrifice my vision of femininity to make it clearer for other people. Even if it sometimes gets cloudy.
My femininity is always something I've tried to preserve in this dog-eat-dog world.
Femininity and masculinity are social constructs. Female and male are biological. We don't have to learn to be men or women but we do have to learn to be ladies and gentlemen.
It is only through my daughter that I have come to realise that a life without femininity – devoid of mystery, emotion, gentleness and the unerring power of a woman’s love – is no life at all.
I like femininity, not of the devout, but of the self-assured, cool and sophisticated kind.
A woman today knows that the power of her femininity is very important.
Men insist that they don't mind women succeeding so long as they retain their "femininity". Yet the qualities that men consider "feminine" timidity, submissiveness, obedience, silliness, and self-debasement are the very qualities best guaranteed to assure the defeat of even the most gifted aspirant.
Actually, I'm looking forward to being 50. Because to me, that's when a woman is at the pinnacle of her femininity and her womanhood.
I've always been independent, and I don't see how it conflicts with femininity.
The body in its masculinity and femininity has been called "from the beginning" to become the manifestation of the spirit. The body, in fact, and only the body, is capable of making visible what is invisible: the spiritual and the divine.
I like a woman who has both maturity and ingenuity. This comes under the heading of femininity.
The disciplinary power that inscribes femininity in the female body is everywhere and it is nowhere; the disciplinarian is everyone and yet no one in particular.
Her iron will won international respect. Her unabashed femininity gained women's. Margaret Thatcher was a lady's lady.
You cannot forget about your femininity. You don't have to compete with men in that respect.
I was first sexually exploited when I was seven, by a distant cousin at a family wedding. Even after that I was routinely molested by older cousins and their friends. See, my innocence was taken away and I became mature at one bloody incident. I believe I never had a childhood. I grew up as an elderly person. And that's what my femininity brought upon me. Of course, in a patriarchal society, hijras' bodies are thought of as toys.
I've always grown up as a tomboy and don't see myself as much of a girly girl, but when the time comes, it's fun to play dress up and embrace my femininity.
I've come to the conclusion that beautiful women in the West aren't comfortable finding strength in their femininity. They want to do masculine-oriented things to establish their femininity. It's a contradiction.
Nobody can influence me, nobody. Still less a woman. Women are important in a man's life only if they're beautiful and charming and keep their femininity.
