I love to think that the day you're born, you're given the world as a birthday present.
I do not believe that the majority of men in the world would like to hurt women, but they can be very complacent, and that is just as bad.
There is no great force for change, for peace, for justice and democracy, for inclusive economic growth than a world of empowered women.
I think we have to continue to protect women on social media, who are coming out in a world that can still be very harsh towards them, so that they do not feel that they are alone. And of course, some of these attacks happen on social media, so we do need to provide a counter narrative - a supportive narrative - so that the voices of those that are punitive towards women does not become the dominant voice.
Achieving gender equality is about disrupting the status quo - not negotiating it.
Equality for women is progress for all.
Patriarchy is bestowed on men at birth. Whether you want it or not, you have a privilege as a man, and you either fight against it and reject it by becoming a feminist man, or you enjoy the privileges that come with it.
The bottom line is that I like my first drafts to be blind, unconscious, messy efforts; that's what gets me the best material.
I don`t think this has been fully understood by the United States. . . If you look at India, China and Russia, they all have strong education heritages. Even if you discount 90 percent of the people there as uneducated farmers, you still end up with about 300 million people who are educated. That`s bigger than the U. S. work force.
Dads - and people in general - should keep in mind that we as mothers put enough pressure on ourselves. We don't need outside pressure put on us.
