Without community, there is no liberation.
It's always a good collaboration between the actor and the writer and the director to try stuff out, during the process.
Collaboration is a nice change of pace from the often solitary nature of the writer's craft.
Theater for me is terrifying but much more rewarding, because you know what they're seeing. Film is all little bits and pieces. And you can do an amazing job, but if the camera isn't getting it, it doesn't work. And then other times when you feel you really weren't present, and then you see it and somehow it works. So there's a mystery, there's a strange collaboration that takes place with everybody.
Everyone hates their picture being taken and they're nervous and they're bringing all of that. When I meet with them they realize it is a collaboration and they look forward to coming back.
My only concern about art collaborations is that I never thought of myself as an Artist. My tax forms say MusicianSongwriter.
I think I learned a lot about collaboration and about joint creativity with other people. It is honestly so much fun and I don't think that I would have had the same album if I had just written it by myself.
