Wayne Robert LaPierre, Jr. (born November 8, 1949 in Schenectady, New York) is an American gun rights lobbyist. As executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, he advocated armed guards for schools in response to the school shootings at Sandy Hook and Stoneman Douglas. He supports longer sentences for gun crime, institutionalization of the mentally ill, and the suppression of violent video-games.
