Louis Buller Gohmert Jr. /ˈɡoʊmərt/ (born August 18, 1953) is a Republican Party U.S. Representative from Texas' 1st congressional district who is part of the Tea Party movement. On January 4, 2015, Gohmert announced he would challenge John Boehner for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was defeated in the challenge by Boehner two days later, on January 6, 2015.
