Success is falling down 7 times but getting up 8!
The world is a very serious and, at times, very sad place - but at other times it is all such a joke.
I was a guest at CalArts. John Baldessari invited me out a few times. I've been there. I've been in Pasadena, taught out at Boulder, University of Colorado. And I've taught in Europe. I've lectured and taught. I've taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nigne [sp]. I was there for a couple of weeks, I was there. I've taught all over - in Switzerland, Germany.
I feel New York is too crazy for me, especially when you go to Times Square.
Exercise is not enough. Working out three times a week is not enough. Being active throughout the day is what keeps you healthy.
But at least this got Mouth thinking about how his loneliness wasn't unique. We all suffered. And I guess we all had good times too. Man - if every person who ever felt lonely killed himself, the world would be littered with corpses. And far lonelier.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. Nothing worthwhile is easy. Your ability to overcome unfavorable situations will provide you with time to demonstrate your true strength and determination for success. Always set your standards high, your greatest achievements lie within the infinite feats you achieve in your life.
It's logical that people from bad times will reflect their feelings in their communication. Music is part of the communication. If you lived it, you can do it.
Sometimes [high school speech team] was funny, other times it was just talking, but it gave me the confidence to speak in front of people after doing that for a whole year.
The position of Prussia in Germany will not be determined by its liberalism but by its power. . . Prussia must concentrate its strength and hold it for the favorable moment, which has already come and gone several times. Since the treaties of Vienna, our frontiers have been ill-designed for a healthy body politic. Not through speeches and majority decisions will the great questions of the day be decided - that was the great mistake of 1848 and 1849 - but by iron and blood (Eisen und Blut).
I write and I write and a lot of times I go back to the American lens, though sometimes it's a struggle to come from that perspective.
Michael Jordan on his worst day is ten times better than Kobe Bryant on his best day
In dire times you can lose joy, but you can't lose hope. Hope is your guide.
Not surprisingly, troubled economic times often beget proselytizers of wacky, extreme ideas.
I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying.
Fashion is an expression of the times. Elegance is something else again.
Socialism is young and has made errors. Many times revolutionaries lack the knowledge and intellectual courage needed to meet the task of developing the new man with methods different from the conventional ones - and the conventional methods suffer from the influences of the society, which created them.
Maintaining strong references is a critical part of effective networking, and I suggest sending your best contacts periodic updates, e-mails just saying hello, and holiday cards. Ideally, you should be keeping in touch with them at least a few times a year, so that when you need to give them the heads up that you'll be using them as a reference, it won't come completely out of the blue.
Illnesses are often times a reflection of an emotional place that needs healing or attention.
Sometimes I really regret that I did not live in those times when there was still so much that was new; to be sure enough much is yet unknown, but I do not think that it will be possible to discover anything easily nowadays that would lead us to revise our entire outlook as radically as was possible in the days when telescopes and microscopes were still new.
