Rainer Werner Fassbinder (pronounced [ˈʀaɪ̯nɐ ˈvɛʁnɐ ˈfasˌbɪndɐ]; 31 May 1945 – 10 June 1982) was a West German filmmaker, actor, playwright and theatre director, who was a catalyst of the New German Cinema movement.
