María Guadalupe Villalobos Vélez, known professionally as Lupe Vélez (July 18, 1908 – December 14, 1944), was a Mexican-born stage and screen actress, comedian, singer, dancer, and vedette whose started her career in her native land in revue and vaudeville, before emigrating to the United States, where she became a popular film star and the first famous Latin American star in Hollywood.
