Ruben Amaro, Jr.

Rubén Amaro Jr. (born February 12, 1965) is an American former professional baseball player and General Manager who is the first base coach of the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He played in Major League Baseball as an outfielder from 1991 to 1998. Amaro was named the General Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies on November 3, 2008, succeeding Pat Gillick and remained in that position until September 10, 2015. He previously served as the first base coach for the Boston Red Sox. He is the son of the late former Major League Baseball player Rubén Amaro Sr.
